Write to The Masonry Guide

Everything sent through the form below lands with the person who edits this site. Expect a few days rather than a few hours, and expect a real answer rather than an autoresponder.

One thing to know first: this is a reference, not a masonry business. No one here can price your wall, and nobody should try from photographs — the number lives in access, in the condition of the existing mortar, and in how much has to come down before anything goes back up. Two written quotes from firms working in your area will tell you more than any estimate we could offer.

The form

    What reaches the editor

    • A number, code reference or standard cited on the site that has moved since publication
    • A wall problem we have not written about and you went looking for
    • Any error at all, including the small ones — those get corrected
    • Whether an article actually helped you decide something, which is more useful feedback than it sounds

    What we cannot take on

    • Pricing, scheduling or performing masonry work of any kind
    • Acting between you and a contractor — a state consumer-protection office, the local licensing board, or the Better Business Bureau are the right routes for that
